FOOD FOR THOUGHT - FOOD FOR LIFE!

We have all heard the term “food for thought.”  Well, here’s some “food for life…it’s called PRAYER.

Prayer is how we communicate with God and there are two parts to it, talking and listening.  We talk, God listens… God talks, we listen.  How does God primarily talk to us?  He talks to us mostly through His Word, the Bible.

When we open up the Bible to see what God has to say, we are opening up to the face of God.  There He is in all His glory and splendor, talking directly to us, feeding us ‘food for thought-food for life’… nourishing the new creation (the New Life) within you.  “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new has come!”  “…For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” “It’s Christ in you the hope of glory.”  (2 Cor 5:17, Philippians 2:13, Colossians 1:27)

I love how Oswald Chambers explains the purpose of prayer.  He writes: “we hear it said that a person’s life will suffer if they don’t pray, but I question that.  What will suffer is the life of the Son of God in them which is nourished, not by food, but by prayer.  When a person is born again from above, the life of the Son of God is born in them, and they can either starve or nourish that life.  Prayer is the way that the life of the Son of God in us is nourished.”  WOW! It’s how we grow the New Life within.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - FOOD FOR LIFE!

As improbable as it may seem, the one giving the nourishment is the same one receiving the nourishment.  Paul writes in Galatians 4:19: “My dear children for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you…”  Paul also tells us; “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

So, when you are reading, studying, digesting the Word of God, you are actually feeding and growing the life of the Son of God within at the same time.  The last words the Apostle Peter wrote to the church before his departure was to: “Grow in Grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever more. Amen” (2Peter 3:18)

LIFE LESSON: God’s desire for our lives is not complicated in the least.  All He wants is for us to continuously learn of Him and get to know Him more and more through the word of God and prayer.  Jesus said; “Learn from me…my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” As we grow in the Grace of God the rest of life’s details fall into place.  Yes, Amen!
